Here at SmartGirlVeg headquarters, we spend the week clicking on link after link, looking for the most important news, best recipes/food tips and more to share with our readers. There’s so much great info out there and so little time, that we’re trying out a new feature—This Week in Veggies. Every Friday, we’ll put together a roundup of this week’s most clickworthy articles, websites, and posts for teen vegetarians and the people who love them (or like them, or like-like them).

Thanks to our friend Caroline Kaufman, MS, RDN (aka @SweetFoodie; check out her blog www.sweetfoodie.com) for giving us the idea to share a little #linklove!

Food for thought:

@Ecorazzi reports on another school district joining @MeatlessMonday! Go Go South San Francisco!

And while we're on the topic of Meatless Monday, the whole city  of Cleveland, Ohio has signed up! Thanks, @CoolCleveland

In more serious news, the @US_FDA issued a recall of almond and peanut butters. A must read for all nut-eating VegHeads!

Looking at colleges this year? @UT_Dallas just became a great school for any vegetarian or vegan student, thanks to a newly opened cafeteria

Have you heard people talking about the Paleo diet? @KBratskier of the @HuffPo asks if vegetarians can go paleo (short answer: sort of. Vegans, not so much).

Food for eating:

Ready for the long weekend? If you’re planning to barbecue, check out this nice roundup on  @OneGreenPlanet of 10 meatless main dishes to help you celebrate Labor Day

What’s for dinner tonight? @MarthaRShulman of the @NYTimes wrote about vegetarian taco night, and included loads of delish-sounding combinations you probably haven’t thought of. We especially love tacos because they’re easy to customize, so it makes them great for a family with different eating preferences (like some vegetarians and some meat-eaters).

Oh, we cannot wait to try this amazing sounding dairy-free/vegan banana cream pie blizzard by the always awesome @MinimalistBaker. Secret ingredient: Banana powder. What’s that? Click to find out!

And finally, we’re intrigued by @OhMyVeggies Buffalo tofu wings with creamy ranch dip. We love anything that helps keep vegetarians from feeling left out at parties. Football season will be here before you know it, and we’re filing this one away!

What did we miss!?
